Renoir in Bilbao coming soon from 07/02/17-15/05/2017

Renoir: intimacy brings together more than 60 works by the French Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir  loaned from museums and private collections around the world. They have been selected by Guillermo Solana, artistic director of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, with the aim of revealing the importance of tactile values in Renoir’s work. Referring to that aspect of the artist, his son Jean Renoir wrote: “He looked at flowers, women, clouds in the sky as other men touch and caress.”

Santo Tomas Markets in the Basque Country

Rural atmosphere reigns in Santo Tomás festivity, which is the day that marks the start of Christmas time. Many towns in the Basque Country celebrate this special day but it is in San Sebastián, Bilbao, Azpeitia, Lekeitio, Errenteria, Irun, Hondarribia, Usurbil and Arrasate/Mondragón where most people celebrate the festivity. Most towns celebrate it on December 21st. In Arrasate/Mondragón, where it also takes place on the 22nd -an is known as “Santamasak”.
