Virtual reality will be the new showcase for selling trips according to Facebook.

In fact, Facebook has begun to market a virtual reality helmet called Oculus Quest. This device has the price of $399 in the United States.

‘Trends and Experiences in Tourism’, the new concept of Expovacaciones.

The 40th edition of Expovacaciones took place at BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Center) in Barakaldo, from May 10 to 12. After offering traditional proposals, the fair has incorporated a new concept based on sports, gastronomy and adventure.

The new section is a new way of choosing destinations based on the activities, the gastronomic excellence of the territory or the unknown experiences.

In total, 228 participants participated in the pavilion 3 of the BEC, each with its tourist and culinary offers.

In addition, attendees can also do different activities. For example, making a virtual visit to the caves of El Soplao in the stand of Cantabria.

Finally, the Basque Country, together with Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia have commemorated the 30th anniversary of their alliance Green Spain. They have a union with the objective of promoting their destinations in the tourist, cultural and natural spaces.

Wine & Senses project

On March 14, Vitoria presented the Wine & Senses project. An initiative that aims to boost tourism in four European rural wine regions and generate tourism circuits.

The plan brings together different entities and companies from Spain, Italy, Hungary, Portugal and the Czech Republic. This collaboration is in order to make the vitivinicultural heritage a protagonist. The Santa María la Real Foundation presented this initiative in the framework of the “International Wine Tourism Conference”.

The main objective of Wine & Senses is to design routes combine heritage, landscape, history and gastronomy. All this with wine as the axis so the visitor can enjoy it with all the senses.

Routes that turn each itinerary into a true sensory experience for the traveler and away from mass tourism. Also, betting on a sustainable enjoyment of the territories, with hiking activities, guided tastings, musical performances or guided visits.

Santo Tomas Markets in the Basque Country

Rural atmosphere reigns in Santo Tomás festivity, which is the day that marks the start of Christmas time. Many towns in the Basque Country celebrate this special day. Mostly in  San Sebastián, Bilbao, Azpeitia, Lekeitio, Errenteria, Irun, Hondarribia, Usurbil and Arrasate/Mondragón. Most towns celebrate it on December 21st.
